Capability 2

Statewide network evidence

Exposure is the denominator of road safety. We build it from raw public data — signal configurations, detector counts, traffic volumes, cameras and speed zones — as one checked chain.

CapabilityWhat it is
Signal evidence (SCATS data)About 4,870 signal-configuration sheets read with AI vision + geometry checks; per-approach evidence at 4,527 of 4,588 volumed signalised intersections (98.7%). Case note →
Detector counts15-minute detector counts across about 5,000 signal sites (up to 24 detectors each), with weekday/all-day bias measured and corrected.
Directional traffic volume1,267,052 Victorian road sections, three evidence tiers, about 71 billion vehicle-km in a documented envelope. Case note →
Camera-based countingComputer-vision vehicle counts from 79 public traffic cameras (Vic + NSW), about 735,000 rows a day; the night-time limitation is documented.
Speed-limit truthOpen-data speed zones used as ground truth to test map-provider speed limits, which can lag changes by months.
Spatial service cataloguesComplete layer-level catalogues of public ArcGIS services for NSW and Victoria, so every input has a known source.
Road assessment data pipelinesProgrammatic extraction of AusRAP assessment datasets.
